Texas Republican: Trump’s Border Fence Idea ‘Just Doesn’t Work’
When Donald Trump busted onto the political scene with his half-cocked idea of building a wall that stretched the entire border of Mexico, Republicans praised him, calling him a hero, and a great man with a great idea.
Now, Trump finds himself in a tricky situation. His momentum is slipping and he is starting to get exposed on more important issues than immigration.
Republican Rep. Will Hurd of Texas doesn’t believe in Trump’s wall, noting that it is impossible to ever build it and enforce it.
Opposing Views reports:
“You can’t build a wall from sea to shining sea. It just doesn’t work. It’s the most expensive way to do border security, and it’s the least effective,” Hurd said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Sept. 8.
“You can’t have a one-size-fits-all solution,” he said. “We need to allow the men and women in border patrol to adjust their tactics, techniques and procedures as they see fit.”
“In heavily populated areas, a wall absolutely makes sense,” the freshman congressman said.
