Kevin Spacey: Trump Is My ‘House of Cards’ Confidant
Kevin Spacey recently appeared on an episode of Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show.
Colbert discussed House of Cards and asked Spacey who he was talking to when he had his monologues in the show.
“Who do you think you’re talking to when you talk right to the camera?” host Stephen Colbert asked Spacey on Wednesday.
“This is the truth from the very beginning,” Spacey responded, looking directly at the camera and speaking in Frank Underwood’s southern accent.
“When I’m looking directly into that camera, I’m talking to one person and one person only — and that is Donald Trump,” Spacey said.
“Now it all starts to make sense,” added Colbert.
Colbert asked him if he ever felt that the show was pushing the limits and unrealistic.
“There have been times where I’ll leave the set and we’ll have shot a particular story line, and I’ll think, ‘this is really pushing it,'” Spacey said. “Then I’ll get back to the hotel and turn on the news, and think, ‘man we’re f-cked.”
