Santorum on Dem Field: ‘They’re All Socialists’

Rick Santorum, a name you probably haven’t heard in a long time, and for good reason, is fighting hard to stay relevant.

In a recent appearance on Rose Unplugged on Wednesday, Santorum called the entire Democratic Party a field of socialists.

“I know these guys. I’ve served with Bernie Sanders. I’ve been on TV shows with Bernie Sanders,” the Republican presidential candidate said in an interview Wednesday on the “Rose Unplugged” radio show in Pennsylvania highlighted by BuzzFeed.

“And here’s the amazing thing, there’s no difference between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. That’s basically what that debate showed. They’re all socialists, and they all don’t believe in free enterprise.

“I want to put the free back in free enterprise. I want to liberate folks to be able to go out there and work hard and get the fruits of their labor,” Santorum added.

The Hill reports:

Sanders, an Independent senator from Vermont, is a self-described democratic socialist. He defended his politics during the Democratic debate Tuesday in Las Vegas.

“I think what Sen. Sanders is saying certainly makes sense in terms of the inequality that we have, but we are not Denmark,” Clinton shot back during a debate exchange.
“I love Denmark, [but] we are the United States of America and it is our job to rein in the excesses of capitalism so that it doesn’t run amuck and cause the kinds of inequities that we are seeing in our economic system, but we would be making a grave mistake to turn on what made the greatest middle class,” Clinton said.

Santorum, who finished second to Mitt Romney in 2012, is barely registering in polls of the 2016 race, scoring less than 1 percent support in the RealClearPolitics average.
