Sanders: Clinton ‘Moving in My Direction’
Bernie Sanders is excited that Hillary Clinton is finally becoming more liberal and moving in his direction.
“I am delighted that in the last couple of months Hillary Clinton has come on board positions that I have held for many, many years,” Sanders said in an interview on NBC’s “Today” show.
“So I’m glad that Hillary Clinton is moving in my direction,” he added.
The Hill reports:
Sanders said earlier this month that he was glad the former secretary of State had come out in opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the massive trade deal between the U.S. and 11 other Pacific Rim nations.
Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, has run closely with Clinton in the early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire and is now one of just two candidates opposing her in the race.
Clinton, Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley appeared over the weekend at a major Democratic event in Iowa, where Sanders came out swinging against Clinton.
Asked Tuesday if he would acknowledge that Clinton has a better shot at locking up the Democratic nomination, Sanders said, “Absolutely not.”
