Trump: US Needs ‘Tom Brady of Negotiators’
While Jeb Bush received flack for discussing fantasy football at the recent GOP debate, Donald Trump suggested on Monday that the United States needed the Tom Brady equivalent for negotiating for its next president.
“We need very strong people, because our country is being taken away like candy from a baby,” Trump said in an interview on Fox Sports 1’s “The Herd” with host Colin Cowherd.
“We need strong people. We need the Tom Brady of negotiators,” Trump continued on the program, mentioning trade deals and the recently negotiated deal over Iran’s nuclear program.
The Hill reports:
The celebrity real estate tycoon has long cast himself as a tough negotiator, suggesting his business skills could translate well into White House responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Trump suggested Monday that GOP presidential rival Jeb Bush is “under a tremendous amount of pressure” in his 2016 White House bid, while Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is a “lightweight.”
The businessman has repeatedly voiced his admiration for Brady, a four-time Super Bowl champion who was photographed with one of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” caps in his locker.
