Will Smith Considers a Future in Politics

Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down. Sound familiar? It’s the opening line to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Will Smith, famous for Men in Black, a PG-13 rap career, and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air managed to evolve his rap career into acting. Now he wants to take a stab at politics in the not-so-distant future.

“This is the first year that I’ve been incensed to a level that I can’t sleep, you know? So I’m feeling that at some point, in the near future, I will have to lend my voice to the conversation in a somewhat different way.”

Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith helped President Barack Obama with his reelection in 2012, hosting a major fundraiser for the Obama family. Smith considers himself to be an ambitious individual who dislikes the status quo.

“If I see a mountain, I have to climb it. I’m not a camper; I don’t like hanging in one place too long. So I think, at this point, I’m elevating my ability to be useful in the world.”

“I think that that’s what my grandmother always hoped,” the rapper turned actor said, “that I would make myself useful to people in this lifetime.”
