Kasich Compares Trump’s Political Experience to Obama’s
Republican presidential candidate John Kasich compared Donald Trump’s campaign experience to that of President Barack Obama in 2008.
“Republicans have run around for seven years saying this: ‘I can’t believe we picked a one-term United States senator who has no experience to be president,’” Kasich told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“I just sometimes wonder whether the party’s got amnesia,” he added.
The Hill reports:
By contrast, Kasich touted his political experience not only as governor of Ohio, but also as a U.S. congressman for nearly two decades.
Trump is leading the Republican field with 35 percent support, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls. While Kasich trails with only 1.8 percent support.
Despite the low poll numbers, Kasich said his campaign is “surging” and could be boosted by a strong showing in the New Hampshire primary.
“People just keep counting me out, they have all my career,” Kasich said. “We just keep plugging along.”
“I believe I’ll win the nomination if I come out of New Hampshire in a strong position,” he added.
