Sanders Fundraising Surges After Clinton Attacks
As Hillary Clinton’s campaign went on the attack, Bernie Sander’s smiled as the dollars rolled in.
Clinton has been struggling in the polls, prompting her campaign to go on the offensive against Sanders.
“Thanks, Team Clinton,” Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs said Wednesday.
“As of now, we are at about $1.4 million raised since yesterday when the panic attacks by the Clinton campaign began,” he continued.
“We’ve gotten 47,000 contributions. We’re projecting 60,000 donations. Even for our people-powered campaign, this is pretty darn impressive.”
The Hill reports:
Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, has bombarded Sanders with attacks in recent days.
Her focus has largely been on the Vermont senator’s record on gun control, and his healthcare proposals.
On the defensive, Sanders on Wednesday called Clinton’s attacks on his gun control record “mean-spirited and unfair and inaccurate.”
Despite her barrage, Clinton insisted Wednesday she is not worried about Sanders’s recent polling gains.
“No I’m not nervous at all,” Clinton said on the “Today” show. “I’m working hard, and I intend to keep working as hard as I can until the last voter or caucusgoer expresses an opinion. I’m excited about where we are.”
New polls released Tuesday showed Sanders overtaking Clinton in Iowa and building a larger lead in New Hampshire.
