Trump: Our Country Needs My Anger

Donald Trump told voters on Wednesday night that America needed him as president because they needed his anger.

Appearing on CNN’s Erin Burnett Outfront, Trump said that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley was right, that he was angry, but that it was something the American people needed.

“She is right. I am angry, and a lot of other people are angry too at how incompetently our country’s being run,” Trump said

“I don’t care, let her refer to me. As far as I’m concerned, anger and energy is what this country needs,” he continued.

The Hill reports:

Haley, who’s considered a leading contender for the GOP vice presidential nomination, confirmed earlier Wednesday that she was referring to Trump in her Tuesday rebuttal to President Obama’s final State of the Union address.

In her speech, Haley called on Americans not to listen to “the siren of the angriest voices.”

Trump on Wednesday said Haley “is a very nice woman,” but panned her stance on immigration.

“She’s weak on the subject of illegal immigration,” Trump said. “Nothing at all against Nikki Haley.”

Haley has condemned Trump’s proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the country.

Trump said he’d still consider Haley on his list for vice president if he wins the GOP nomination, but again questioned her on immigration and border security.

“She’s not doing real well right now, but I’m sure she’d be somebody who would be considered,” Trump said.

“A very important thing for me is borders and security, and she’s not very strong on those subjects and that would bother me very much.”
