Sanders: I Have a ‘Good Chance to Win This Election’
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said on Sunday that he is confident that he can win the election.
“We started this campaign, as you well know, at like 3 percent in the polls,” Sanders said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
“We are now ahead in New Hampshire,” he added. “I think we’re closing the gap in Iowa. I think we have a good chance to win both those states. I think we have a good chance to win this election.”
The Hill reports:
Sanders chalked up his success to the public’s dissatisfaction with politics as usual.
“I think the reason that we are going to win is that people are sick and tired of status quo politics and economics,” he said. “They want a president who has the guts to stand up to the billionaire class and start representing working families.”
Although Sanders still trails Hillary Clinton by 8.6 percent nationally, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls, he is leading by 6 percent in New Hampshire and running neck and neck with the front-runner in Iowa.
