Rubio Stops Rally to Pray for Fainting Woman
Marco Rubio made sure to appeal to his religious voters on Tuesday when he interrupted his Minnesota rally to pray for a woman that had fainted.
“I just want to take 10 seconds to say a prayer,” the Florida senator said during Tuesday’s rally in Andover. “Lord, may your will be upon her and give her the strength Lord to overcome whatever she is facing.”
The Hill reports:
A man in the crowd shouted, “Class act, Marco,” after Rubio paused the event.
Before the woman fell ill — reporters say she fainted — Rubio was assailing GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump as a con artist perpetrating a fraud upon the Republican electorate.
Rubio, who is targeting Minnesota and Virginia for wins on Super Tuesday, received laughs from his audience when he told residents of the North Star State that they, more than anyone else, should know what it’s like to have an embarrassing entertainer as an elected official.
“How did that work out with Jesse Ventura?” Rubio said, referring to the former professional wrestler who also served as Minnesota’s governor.
“Jesse Ventura is an embarrassment,” Rubio added.
“I will rephrase that. Jesse Ventura is an embarrassment … and Donald Trump will be an embarrassment to America.”
