Sanders Challenges Clinton to Release Speeches to Wall Street

Bernie Sanders called on Hillary Clinton to release transcripts to her Wall Street speeches on Sunday’s Democratic debate in Flint, Michigan.

“Secretary Clinton wanted everybody else to release it,” the Vermont senator said about the speech transcripts Sunday during the CNN Democratic debate in Flint, Mich.

“Well, I’m your Democratic opponent. I released it, here it is! There ain’t nothing. I don’t give speeches to Wall Street for hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

The Hill reports:

As he spoke, he threw his hands up, pretending to throw papers into the air.

Sanders and Republicans have been calling on Clinton to release these transcripts for weeks, arguing that the voters have the right to see whether her tough talk about Wall Street is consistent with the tones of those speeches.

But Clinton has pushed back by arguing that neither her speeches nor the donations she’s taken from Wall Street will have an impact on her conduct as president.

“If you were going to be in some way distrusted or dismissed about whether you can take on Wall Street if you ever took money, President Obama took more money from Wall Street in the 2008 campaign than anybody ever had,” she said.

“And when it came time to stand up to Wall Street, he passed and signed the toughest regulation since the Great Depression with the Dodd-Frank regulations.”
