“Donald Trump is not in it for the America people,” Fiorina told host Alisyn Camerota on CNN’s“New Day” on Thursday. “He’s in it for himself, just like how he’s been in it for himself all his life.”
“The big lie he’s peddling is that he’s in it for the little guy, that he’s going to reform the system,” she said. “He’s not in it for the little guy.
“He’s in it for himself,” the former Hewlett-Packard CEO reiterated. “That’s why he asks his supporters to take a loyalty pledge to him.
“Ted Cruz said in his rally yesterday that that is exactly backwards, and Ted Cruz is exactly right. The president of the United States, when he raises his hand and takes an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, he is pledging loyalty to the nation and its citizens.”
The Hill reports:
Fiorina on Wednesday revealed that she is backing Cruz’s White House run during an appearance at his campaign rally in Miami. She called Cruz a “fearless fighter and reformer” capable of defeating both Trump and Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.
“The truth is that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are two sides of the same coin,” Fiorina said. “They aren’t going to reform the system. They are the system.”
Fiorina suspended her own White House run last month after poor results in Iowa and New Hampshire.
She frequently sparred with Trump over issues ranging from their business backgrounds to women’s physical appearances before ending her campaign.
