Sanders Has Unnamed Superdelegates, Per Spokeswoman
Hillary Clinton has a considerable lead on Bernie Sanders when it comes to pledged delegates. However, she has what appears to be an insurmountable lead (of about 700) superdelegates, party VIPs who vote for the nominee at at the convention.
Sanders spokesperson Symone Sanders said that the Vermont Senator has a number of superdelegate supporters who “have not made their support public” or “come forward” to the press.
The Hill reports:
In an interview with The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper, the spokeswoman said the campaign doesn’t have “300 superdelegates waiting in the wings, but we do have folks that have not yet come forward and made their support of Senator Sanders known.”
Currently, Clinton has 469 superdelegates who intend to vote for her at the party convention, while Sanders has 31, according to Real Clear Politics. A superdelegate can change his or her vote up until the convention.
