Sanders: ‘I Appreciate Bill Clinton Being My Psychoanalyst’
Bernie Sanders has responded to Bill Clinton’s claim that the Vermont Senator’s “unqualified” criticism was unconsciously sexist.
“Bill Clinton, today, was asked about the comments, and said ‘Of course you wouldn’t have made the same charges if she were a man,’” Jake Tapper of CNN asked Sanders.
“Oh my goodness,” Sanders replied, chuckling.
“And he said, ‘I think there are some different standards for women. Some of them are subconscious,’” Tapper went on.
“I appreciate Bill Clinton being my psychoanalyst. It’s always nice,” Sanders said dismissively. He also added that when attacked his campaign will fight back.
The Hill reports:
Sanders went on to explain how Clinton’s campaign has changed “its tone” since he won Wisconsin’s primary earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the Vermont senator listed a number of issues that he suggested made her “not qualified” to be president.
Sanders walked back his criticism of the former secretary of state earlier Friday, saying “of course” Clinton was qualified to be president.
“On her worst day, she would be an infinitely better president than either of the Republican candidates,” Sanders said.
