Bobby Knight to Campaign for Trump in Indiana

Legendary Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight will appear on the campaign trail for Donald Trump.

Knight’s appearance was confirmed by Trump’s campaign on Monday.

The Hill reports:

The former Hoosiers coach will appear with Trump at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum that evening.
The event, which will take place about a week before Indiana’s primary, was announced the day after Trump’s rivals, Ted Cruz and John Kasich, revealed a new effort to block Trump from winning the GOP nomination.

Their strategy depends on Cruz defeating Trump in Indiana.

Trump leads Cruz by over 6 points in the Hoosier State, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.

Trump on Saturday called Knight a “great coach” during a campaign rally in Connecticut.

“Tough, smart, strong,” Trump added of Knight. “To me, that would be a great endorsement.”

Knight coached the Hoosiers from 1971 until 2000, earning a reputation for his heated temper on and off the court. He was fired from the program after multiple incidents including his public cursing, handling of players and throwing a chair during a game.
