Clinton: Trump Is out of Touch
Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump out of touch with reality on Monday when she was asked about her Republican opponent.
“If you want to be president of the United States, you got to get familiar with the United States. You’ve got to spend time with Americans of all sorts and backgrounds in every part of our country,” she said to supporters at a Wilmington, Del., rally.
“Don’t just fly that big jet in and land it and go make a big speech and insult everybody you can think of, then get on that big jet and go back to your country club house in Florida or your penthouse in New York. I don’t think that puts you in touch with what’s going on.”
The Hill reports:
Trump has eschewed the typical presidential campaign formula–a mixture of glad-handing, baby-kissing, small events and huge rallies–in favor of a steady diet of rallies. Just on Monday alone, Trump planned to hold three rallies in both Pennslyvania and Rhode Island.
Clinton has also faced accusations of being out of touch with voters, specifically around her 2014 comment that she was “dead broke” after she left the White House.
The Democratic front-runner also tore into Trump and Ted Cruz and framed their policies as ones that would not keep America safe.
“When you go to vote tomorrow, you are voting for president and commander in chief. And you have to think about what will keep us safe,” she said.
“I listen to what Trump and Cruz say and a lot of what they say is not only offensive, but it’s dangerous.”
Clinton went on to criticize Trump’s recent calls to pull out of NATO and to allow other countries to obtain nuclear weapons, as well as Cruz’s call to patrol Muslim neighborhoods.
