Carson: Palin on List of Potential Trump Running Mates
According to Ben Carson, former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is being considered for the same role by Donald Trump.
The Hill reports:
Carson told The Washington Post that Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas), Sarah Palin and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie “are all people on our list.”
Palin, however, last Sunday said she likely wouldn’t consider being Trump’s running mate.
“Well, I want to help and not hurt, and I am such a realist that I realize there are a whole lot of people out there who would say ‘anybody but Palin,’ ” the former Alaska governor said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“I don’t want to be a burden on the ticket, and I realize in many eyes, I would be a burden,” she said. “I just want the guy to win, and I don’t know if I would be the person to help him win.”
The Daily Beast reported last week that Carson, a former Republican White House hopeful, had stepped away from a selection committee tasked with finding Trump’s running mate.
“What Trump wanted from Carson were names of who he would recommend for a potential candidate,” Armstrong Williams, Carson’s business manager, told the news outlet. “He was among several other people making recommendations.”
Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, is now reportedly heading up the search for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s running mate.
