Poll: Clinton Leads Trump by 6 Points Nationally

The latest poll by the NYT/ CBS News has placed Hillary Clinton 6 points ahead of Donald Trump.

The Hill reports:

Clinton leads Trump by 6 points, 47 to 41 percent, among registered voters in a hypothetical general election matchup, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll.

The poll comes on the heels of two other national surveys this week, from Fox News and Rasmussen Reports, that showed Trump with a single-digit lead.

The latest poll continues to show that Clinton’s Democratic rival Bernie Sanders has a bigger lead over Trump. In a hypothetical matchup, Sanders leads Trump by 13 points, 51 to 38 percent.

Both Trump and Clinton remain deeply unpopular among voters, despite Trump being his party’s presumptive nominee and Clinton holding a huge delegate lead over Sanders.

Fifty-five percent of registered voters view Trump unfavorably, compared to 26 percent who view him favorably, while 52 percent view Clinton unfavorably and 31 percent view her favorably.

Sanders, meanwhile, is viewed more favorably than not, 41 to 33 percent.

The survey also shows that an overwhelming majority of Republican voters, eight in 10, say GOP leaders should support Trump even if they disagree with him on key issues.

The survey of 1,300 adults including 1,109 registered voters was conducted May 13-17 via landlines and cell phones with an overall margin of error of 3 percentage points.
