Clinton, Trump in Tight Races in Florida, Ohio
According to the latest polls, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are in tight races in Florida and Ohio.
The Hill reports:
In a hypothetical match-up between the two in Florida, Clinton leads Trump by 1 point, 43 percent to 42 percent.
Clinton has a 5-point advantage over the presumptive GOP nominee, 44 to 39 percent, in Ohio.
In a match-up between Trump and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders in Florida, the two candidates are tied at 44 percent each. Sanders, however, has a 9-point lead over Trump in Ohio, 48 to 39 percent, according to the poll.
Sanders has an advantage over Trump among younger voters and independents.
In both Florida and Ohio, Trump has at least eight in 10 Republicans backing him. Clinton also has the support of at least eight in 10 Democrats in both states.
According to the poll, 25 percent of those who are backing Clinton in Ohio say they support her because they oppose Trump. About 30 percent of those backing Trump in both Ohio and Florida say they are supporting the candidate because they want to stop Clinton.
The online polls have margins of error of 4 percentage points in Florida and 3.7 points in Ohio.
