Sanders Gains NC Superdelegate
Bernie Sanders gained a superdelegate from North Carolina on Monday.
The Hill reports:
Democratic National Committeewoman Pat Cotham, a North Carolina superdelegate, announced Monday she will be supporting the Vermont senator, according to Politico.
She announced her support less than an hour before the AP declared that Clinton passed the delegate threshold needed to secure the nomination.
“He can beat Trump, and we cannot have [presumptive GOP presidential nominee] Donald Trump,” Cotham said.
“The polls show that [Sanders] has a better chance of beating him than Secretary Clinton does. That’s just how I came to it.”
Cotham said she plans to support the Democratic nominee but added that she still supported Sanders even after the AP called the race for Clinton.
