Roethlisberger Not Planning To Endorse Trump Or Go To Convention

Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been dragged into the 2016 Election after Donald Trump stopped in the Steel City on Saturday.

Trump claimed at a rally at the Pittsburgh International Airport that the Superbowl-winner had endorsed him. He also called him “a friend” at a rally in Pittsburgh this April.

However, a sports reporter at The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette found that the claim wasn’t even a little bit true.

From the Hill:

At a Friday rally in Richmond, Va., the presumptive GOP presidential nominee said he wants to shake up the annual convention and suggested changing up long-winded speeches from politicians.

“I’m thinking of getting some of the great sports people that I know that like me a lot and that I like,” Trump said, mentioning Roethlisberger, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and UFC fighter Dana White among his supporters.

And at a rally in Pittsburgh Saturday, Trump said “Big Ben” Roethlisberger backs his campaign.

“I love Big Ben,” Trump said. “I just spoke to him. What a great guy. And he’s with us 100 percent.”
