Colbert Mocks Trump’s Orlando Response with Swastika
On Wednesday, Stephen Colbert explained Donald Trump’s response to the Orlando shooting by drawing a diagram of a Swastika.
“First of all, before I figure this out, I’ve got to think like Trump,” Colbert said, tossing a bottle of pills over his shoulder. “I’m not going to take my pills. Whoo! I see patterns where none exist.”
“Trump is saying Obama is not smart because he won’t say radical Islam,” Colbert added, drawing connections on the blackboard. “Trump then says this is inconceivable so something must be going on, probably because Obama is a Muslim, and that’s a bad thing.”
The Hill reports:
The comedian connected lines on the blackboard until they formed a swastika, before erasing it and starting over.
His second diagram led to him conclude: “I hope Trump explains it soon, because until he does, that kind of looks like he’s an a–hole.”
Forty-nine were killed and 53 more injured when a gunman opened fire early Sunday morning at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub. Trump on Monday raised questions about Obama’s refusal to attribute the bloodshed to radical Islam.
“We’re led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he’s got something on his mind,” the presumptive GOP presidential nominee said on Fox News. “There’s something going on — it’s inconceivable.”
Authorities said Omar Mateen, 29, praised the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria while attacking victims.
