Attorney General: I’ve Never Discussed Clinton Emails with Obama

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Sunday that she never discussed Hillary Clinton’s emails with President Barack Obama.

“We’ve never discussed the Clinton case,” Lynch said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“I’ve never spoken about it with the president or really anyone at the White House. That’s not the kind of relationship that I have with the people there, and it would be inappropriate to do so.”

The Hill reports:

Lynch said Sunday that the president’s endorsement of Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, does not create a conflict of interest for her or for the Justice Department — although she is an appointee of the president. The attorney general met with the president following his endorsement of Clinton.

“I don’t get involved on whom the president endorses,” she said.

“The investigation into the State Department email matter is going to be handled like any other matter. We’ve got career agents and lawyers looking at that. They will follow the facts and follow the evidence wherever it leads and come to a conclusion.”

She said the department will continue to do its work in the same way it always has.

“In the interest of the American people, first and foremost.”
