Trump Campaign Poured $6M into Trump Companies
New reports have revealed that Donald Trump has poured $6 million of his campaign donations into his own businesses.
The Hill reports:
The news service’s analysis of federal finance reports through the end of May pegged the amount at $6.2 million, about 10 percent of the real estate mogul’s total campaign expenditures.
That includes about $520,000 the campaign has paid to Trump Tower Commercial LLC and the Trump Corp. for rent and utilities. Approximately $423,000 was spent at Trump’s private Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, and $135,000 went to Trump Restaurants LLC for rent and utilities, the AP reported.
In January, the campaign doled out $26,000 to rent a facility at Trump’s golf course in Miami, Trump National Doral, while Trump’s campaign paid nearly $11,000 to his hotel in Chicago. Trump was reimbursed by his campaign for other out-of-pocket expenditures.
Trump’s campaign is also a big reason why Tag Air Inc., the holding company for Trump’s private plane, reported $3.7 million in revenue in its latest reporting period, according to the AP. Trump often flies to and from campaign events around the country on his branded jet.
Trump reported in May that his business revenue had increased by about $190 million over the previous 17 months, according to the AP.
Late Monday, updated fundraising reports revealed that Trump’s campaign had just $1.3 million in the bank at the end of May following a paltry fundraising month.
Trump’s likely rival in the general election, Hillary Clinton, on Tuesday needled Trump over the news in a tweet:
