Poll: Clinton Expands Lead over Trump

Hillary Clinton expanded her lead over Republican opponent Donald Trump in the latest Fox News poll.

The Hill reports:

The presumptive Democratic nominee leads Trump, 44 to 38 percent, in a head-to-head matchup.

Earlier this month, Clinton held only a 3-point lead over the presumptive GOP nominee in Fox News’s poll, and in May, Trump held a 3-point lead over Clinton.

The poll also found that 51 percent of GOP voters say they would rather have someone other than Trump as their nominee.

Voters were also more confident that Clinton would make the right decisions for the country as opposed to Trump. According to the poll, 48 percent of voters said they were confident Clinton would make the right decisions, whereas only 42 percent of respondents said the same about Trump.

Clinton holds advantages among blacks, 87 percent to 3 percent; women, 51 to 32 percent; and voters under age 45, 45 to 35 percent.

Trump holds the lead among white evangelical Christians, 66 to 18 percent; whites without a college degree, 51 to 33 percent; whites in general, 48 to 34 percent; and men, 46 to 36 percent.

But among Republicans, only 74 percent of respondents said they were backing Trump over Clinton, down from 82 percent of Republicans in the May poll. More than 70 percent of Republicans also described Trump as “hot-headed and obnoxious.”

Among Democrats, 83 percent support Clinton, and 58 percent of Democrats say they want Clinton as their nominee.

The poll was conducted among 1,017 registered voters nationwide from June 26 to 28. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.

Clinton also holds an advantage over Trump in the RealClearPolitics average of polls, leading the presumptive GOP nominee by 6.2 points.
