Scarborough: Clinton ‘Completely Wrong’ on Benghazi
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough blasted Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, saying that she was in the wrong on Benghazi.
“This is the oldest trick in the book for the Clintons,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe.” “‘Oh, we’ve had this many investigations and this money’s been spent, let’s move on.’
“I think she’s got it completely wrong,” Scarborough added of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. “This is the first time I’ve seen anything that makes me think, ‘wait a second — we actually need to talk about this more.’”
The Hill reports:
The House Select Committee on Benghazi released an 800-page report on Tuesday bursting with criticism of Clinton’s handling of the 2012 incident as secretary of State.
The summary concluded Clinton and other officials did not adequately heed warnings about growing extremism in Libya. It also accuses Clinton of blaming the American diplomatic post attack on an anti-Muslim video responsible for unrelated protests.
“This is the first time I’ve said, ‘wait a second, what the hell was going on at the White House?’ ‘Why were they sitting there talking about uniforms, why were they sitting there talking about YouTube videos?’ We need to make sure this never happens again,” Scarborough said.
Clinton on Tuesday suggested America should “move on” from the incident, citing the large time and tax dollar investment in the probe.
The Benghazi panel’s latest report took more than two years and cost $7 million in expenses before its release Tuesday.
Scarborough on Wednesday said its findings are as much an indictment of the Obama administration as it is of Clinton.
“Forget about Hillary Clinton, this is a condemnation of the entire administration bungling the situation from the beginning,” he said of the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed four Americans.
“They were sitting there inside the White House about, instead of protecting Americans, it seems from reading this report, that they were wringing their hands over PR and whether they would offend the Libyans or not.”
