Sanders Calls for Criminal Justice Reform After Police Shootings

Bernie Sanders called for criminal justice reform on Thursday following three recent police shootings.

The Hill reports:

Alton Sterling was shot and killed by police early Tuesday morning in Baton Rouge, La.

Philando Castile was fatally shot by a police officer in suburban Minneapolis on Wednesday after he was pulled over for a traffic stop. The shooting sparked protests in Minnesota.

“We need real criminal justice reform so that people can walk down the street without worrying about whether they’ll get harassed or shot,” Sanders said.

“As South Carolina Rep. Wendell Gilliard proclaimed: ‘Enough is enough of our police officers targeting people of color.'”
