GOP Rep: Ginsburg’s Actions ‘Must Be Met With Consequences’
Rep. Randy Weber blasted Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Wednesday and called for her to resign following her recent comments about Donald Trump.
“The recent comments of Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg on Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump are the antithesis of Lady Justice and in direct violation for what the highest court in the land stands,” he said. “Justice Ginsburg’s actions must be met with consequences. I agree with Donald Trump that she should resign.”
The Hill reports:
GOP members on Tuesday slammed Ginsburg for joking in an interview with The New York Times this week that it would be time to move to New Zealand if Trump is elected.
Ginsburg told the Times that she “can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our president.”
“For the country, it could be four years,” she said. “For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.”
She later quoted her late husband Martin Ginsburg, saying, “Now it’s time for us to move to New Zealand.”
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who suspended his own presidential campaign in March, said Ginsburg’s comments “crossed the line.”
Trump fired back early Wednesday, calling for Ginsburg’s resignation.
“Justice Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court has embarrassed all by making very dumb political statements about me,” he said in a tweet. “Her mind is shot — resign!”
