The Hill reports:
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) tweeted out a photo of her party’s racially diverse 2016 interns, organized and taken by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas) and her staff.
The Instagram post from Ryan earlier this week quickly earned the ire of both lawmakers and voters, with many calling attention to the overwhelming number of white faces in the photo.
“[Speaker Ryan], in this day & age, there’s no excuse for not having diverse staff & interns,”tweeted Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.).
House Democratic Conference Chairman Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) also tweeted a photo of his own diverse group of interns, thanking them for their hard work.
