Vice President Joe Biden officiated a same-sex marriage between two White House staffers on Monday.

The Hill reports:
The two staffers are Brian Mosteller and Joe Mahshie, both of whom have worked in the White House for years.
The vice president’s office said Biden, a first-time wedding officiant, obtained a temporary certificate from the District of Columbia so he could legally conduct the ceremony.
The immediate families of the couple attended the ceremony.
Biden is respected in the LGBT community for his early backing of same-sex marriage in May 2012. The vice president’s announcement was widely seen as forcing President Obama to announce his support soon after.
