The Hill Reports:
Hillary Clinton showed her support for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s reelection campaign on Tuesday, making a stop at the Florida Democrat’s campaign headquarters in Davie, Fla.
“Please do everything you can to make sure Debbie has a resounding victory on Aug. 30,” the Democratic presidential nominee said to a group of supporters, according to the Sun-Sentinel.Wasserman Schultz resigned as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee last month after hacked emails showed that party officials had apparently sought to undermine Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) primary campaign against Clinton.
Sanders has endorsed Wasserman Schultz’s primary opponent, Tim Canova, and fundraised on his behalf.
When Wasserman Schultz resigned, Clinton praised her and pledged to campaign with her in Florida.
“There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie — which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states,” Clinton said in a statement at the time.
“I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bid — because as President, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people.”
President Obama and Vice President Biden have also endorsed Wasserman Schultz.
