The Hill Reports:
Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), an Iraq War veteran, slammed GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump‘s Friday claim that he was being sarcastic in calling President Obama the founder of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
“Donald Trump has shown that he lies every single day, and then the next day he just tries to claim it was sarcasm,” Moulton, a supporter of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, said on CNN’s “New Day,” calling Trump “completely reckless and unfit to be our commander in chief.”
“What happens when he presses the nuclear button, and then the next day says, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, I was just being sarcastic’?” Moulton asked.
Trump reversed course Friday and argued in a tweet that he was being sarcastic when he claimed multiple times this week that Obama was the literal founder of ISIS.
Clinton has slammed Trump for making the false claim, which Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, refused to echo himself. Pence instead argued that Obama’s policies in the wider Middle East “created a vacuum of leadership in which ISIS was created.”
Ratings challenged @CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) "the founder" of ISIS, & MVP. THEY DON'T GET SARCASM?

Trump similarly came under fire last month for saying he hoped Russian hackers were able to find deleted emails from the private sever Clinton used while secretary of State, which was widely viewed as Trump encouraging cyberattacks on the part of a foreign power. Trump later claimed he was being “sarcastic.”
“When Trump claims that America is the founder of ISIS, that’s something that ISIS uses against us, that’s something that ISIS uses to recruit fighters, recruit terrorists, to attack American troops,” Moulton said during his CNN appearance on Friday.
“It makes the work of our troops harder, and it just shows that Trump has absolutely no idea what it takes to fight ISIS, what it takes to be commander in chief and he certainly has no clue what it means to put your life on the line for our country,” Moulton added.
