Poll: Clinton’s Lead Shrinks to 2 Points Nationally
The latest poll has placed Hillary Clinton only two points ahead of Donald Trump nationally.
The Hill reports:
Clinton leads Trump, 42 percent to 40 percent, in a two-way race in the Morning Consult poll released Sunday morning.
Just three weeks ago, Clinton led Trump by 7 points in the same poll, 44 percent to 37 percent.
When third-party candidates are factored into the new poll, Clinton maintains a 2-point lead over Trump, with 38 percent support for the former secretary of State, 36 percent for the real estate mogul, 9 percent for Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and 4 percent for Green Party nominee Jill Stein.
Approximately 13 percent of respondents still say they are undecided.
The Morning Consult poll of 2,001 registered voters, conducted Sept.1 –2, has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
Clinton leads Trump by about 4 points nationally, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.
