Trump Demands Obama Not Pardon Clinton for ‘Crimes’
At a rally Friday, Donald Trump requested that President Obama not provide Hillary Clinton with a blanket pardon prior to leaving office, for “crimes” she allegedly committed.
The Hill reports:
Donald Trump on Friday warned President Obama against pardoning Hillary Clinton for any crimes she may have committed as secretary of State.
Clinton has not been charged with doing anything illegal, but at a rally in suburban Detroit on Friday, Trump said he thought Clinton could still be criminally implicated for mishandling classified information and lying to Congress about it.
“Here’s a demand I’m making today to President Obama,” Trump said, reading from a teleprompter. “Mr. President, will you pledge not to issue a pardon to Hillary Clinton and her co-conspirators for their many crimes against our country and against society itself? Will you make that pledge? No one is above the law. Clinton and her cronies will do say or lie about anything to keep their grip on power.”
Trump dug up Clinton’s myriad scandals from the past – including Bill Clinton’s pardoning of commodities trader Marc Rich and Hillary Clinton’s lucrative investments in cattle futures in the late 1970s – to cast the Democratic nominee as a crook.
He demanded that if Clinton wins the White House, she pledge not to bring along staffers who plead the Fifth Amendment or took immunity deals from the FBI during the investigation into her email set-up.
That would include Clinton’s top aide, Cheryl Mills, who received partial immunity for cooperating with the feds.
“She lied to Congress so many times, and how about her people and representatives taking the Fifth Amendment and her ringleaders getting immunity deals,” Trump said. “We call them now the ‘FBI Immunity Five’. So listen to this, here’s my question for Hillary Clinton. Can you promise that not one of the five people who were granted criminal immunity will ever be allowed in a Clinton administration if that ever happens?”
Trump is seeking to return the focus back to Clinton after he veered into controversy by stepping up attacks against former Miss Universe Alicia Machado.
The Clinton campaign has sought to highlight remarks Trump made 20 years ago about Machado needing to lose weight after she was crowned Miss Universe.
Trump has kept the controversy alive, defending his remarks and accusing Machado of filming a sex tape.
On Friday, Trump picked up his attacks against Clinton for giving paid speeches, saying investigators should “follow the money” to uncover corruption. “If she gets the chance she will put the oval office up for sale like she always does,” Trump said.
There were also lighter moments as Trump urged voters to hit the polls on Election Day.
“If you’re so sick and get the worst report you can possibly get from the doctor,” Trump said, echoing a plea he has made in prior speeches. “If the doctor says, I’m sorry Jim, I’m sorry Alice, I’m sorry whoever it is, you’re not gonna make it. You’ll be gone by the end of November, I don’t give a damn, show up and vote on Nov. 8.”
