“After military service, the most patriotic thing you can do as a wealthy person is pay your taxes,” Cuban, a vocal supporter of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, said on CNN.
“Because that keeps the roads paid, the military paid and kids going to school, and he obviously doesn’t understand the concept.”
The Hill reports:
A New York Times report published Saturday said a $916 million loss Trump reported on his 1995 income tax returns could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income tax for up to 18 years.
The Times obtained fragments of Trump’s 1995 tax records, not previously released, that show he reported a federal adjusted gross loss of $915.7 million in the wake of financial struggles at three Atlantic City casinos, his airline business and purchase of Manhattan’s Plaza Hotel.
Cuban on Monday shot back against Trump and those who argued the report actually showed Trump’s genius.
“That’s just wrong,” Cuban said.
Trump supporters on Sunday touted the report as indicative of how clever Trump is.
But Democrats and Clinton supporters said the report revealed a corrupt system and a candidate who only cares about himself.
Throughout his campaign, Trump has declined to release his tax returns, saying he is under audit by the IRS. The IRS has said nothing prevents Trump from releasing the documents.
