Salma Hayek to Latinos: Let’s Prove to Trump We’re ‘a Mighty Community’

Actress Salma Hayek is endorsing Hillary for President, believing that Donald is wrong when it comes to Latino issues and terrorism in the United States.

The Hill reports:

Actress Salma Hayek called on the Latino community to show Donald Trump its political clout in a new campaign ad for Hillary Clinton.

“To all Latinos in the United States of America: We cannot allow them to insult and abuse anymore,” she says in a Spanish ad for Clinton’s campaign released Thursday.

“The Latino vote is extremely important. We can prove that we are a mighty community. We have to vote. Vote for Hillary Clinton.”

Hayek, who has previously backed Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, added that Latino voters can also show solidarity with America’s undocumented immigrants.

“Also, those of us who can vote owe it to the undocumented immigrants who don’t have a voice,” she says.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has struggled to make inroads with Latinos and women as Election Day nears.

The billionaire stirred controversy with Latinos, for example, by suggesting some immigrants in the country illegally from Mexico were drug dealers and rapists during his campaign launch last year.

Trump’s running mate on Tuesday, meanwhile, added fuel to the fire by dismissing those remarks at the lone vice presidential debate of 2016.

“You’ve whipped out that Mexican thing again,” Gov. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) told Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Clinton’s running mate. “[Trump’s] not a polished politician like you and Hillary Clinton.”

Hayek, for her part, has repeatedly criticized Trump’s White House run on issues including Latinos and terrorism.

The “Desperado” star shared a face-swap in June, for example, to show what Trump would look like as a Latino.

“He could use some of my Latin genes,” Hayek, who is Mexican-American, said on Instagram on June 21.

Hayek in April, meanwhile, said Clinton is the only White House hopeful capable of vanquishing the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“When they ask of all these people, ‘How would you deal with ISIS?’ I listen to them all respond, and I tremble — except when [Clinton] talks,” she told The Daily Beast on April 20.
