Giuliani Apologizes for Clinton 9/11 Remarks
Former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani is apologizing for comments said earlier this week, where he alleged that Hillary Clinton was not in NYC at the time of the 9/11 attacks.
The Hill reports:
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is apologizing for saying that he doesn’t remember seeing Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in the city on 9/11, after photos circulated of Giuliani and Clinton touring Ground Zero the day after the attack.
“I made a mistake. I’m wrong and I apologize,” Giuliani said in a Wednesday interview with The Associated Press.
Clinton, who was a senator for New York at the time, was in Washington during the attack and has never claimed to be in New York at the time, though she travelled there on Sept. 12, 2001.
During a rally for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday, Giuliani told the crowd that he didn’t remember seeing Clinton in New York during the time of the attacks.
“Yes, you helped to get benefits for the people that were injured that day,” he said during the Florida rally. “But I heard her say one day she was there that day. I was there that day. I don’t remember seeing Hillary Clinton there.”
Told that he was being criticized for the comments, Giuliani told the AP, “I probably deserve it.”
