Nebraska’s First Lady Breaks with Husband to Back Clinton
Nebraska First Lady Susanne Shore has decided, unlike her husband, to support Hillary Clinton for the Presidency.
The Hill reports:
Nebraska’s first lady is breaking with her husband — a Republican and Donald Trump supporter — to back Hillary Clinton for president.
Susanne Shore, a registered Democrat, has donated $4,700 to Clinton’s campaign and $1,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund, The Lincoln Journal Star reported.
Her husband, Gov. Pete Ricketts, has endorsed Trump, the GOP presidential nominee.
However, after the release last week of a 2005 tape in which Trump makes lewd comments about women, Ricketts has said he doesn’t plan to donate any money to Trump’s campaign.
Ricketts said Trump’s comments on the tape were “not only reprehensible and offensive,” but also “dangerous,” according to the Omaha World-Herald.
He also said Trump’s apology following the release of the tape was “inadequate.”
But he still plans to vote for the Republican nominee, saying a Clinton presidency would be “terrible for our country.”
In the past, Shore has contributed to candidates from both parties and has switched her party registration.
