Obama Reads Mean Tweet from Trump on ‘Kimmel’
President Barack Obama appeared on Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night, where he proceeded to read mean tweets about himself.
The Hill reports:
He capped off the popular segment by reading a message from GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States!” Obama read.
“Really? Well, @realDonaldTrump, at least I will go down as a president.”
Kimmel’s beloved “mean tweets” sketch features celebrities reading insulting messages from their Twitter trolls.
Obama first participated in the popular segment in March 2015, reading demeaning posts on everything from his hair to his golf game.
Kimmel asked Obama if he wished he was running against Trump for another term, but the president said Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is holding her own.
“I think Hillary’s doing just fine. I am enjoying campaigning on her behalf, and also campaigning for Senate and House candidates.”
He also joked that if he were able to run for a third term, his wife would divorce him.
But he gave a serious answer when Kimmel asked why people don’t trust Clinton.
“A lot of this just has to do with the fact that she has been in the trenches, in the arena, for 30 years, and when you have been in the public eye for that long, and in politics, folks go after you, and they’re trying to find a weak spot, and any mistake that you make ends up being magnified,” Obama said.
“The brand of politics that Hillary represents, which is pragmatic and says that you don’t get everything done at once, you make progress and move pieces at a time, that may not attract as much attention, it’s not something that goes into 140 characters … but I think she will be an outstanding president.”
