SC Gov. Nikki Haley Says She’ll Vote for Trump
Although critical of Trump’s campaign in the past, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will vote for Donald Trump this election.
The Hill reports:
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) on Thursday said that she will be voting for the Republican nominee Donald Trump despite being unhappy with both presidential candidates.
“Having said that, I will tell you, this is no longer a choice for me on personalities because I’m not a fan of either one. What it is about is policy,” Haley said, as reported by the Washington Examiner.
The governor then added that Trump would be a preferable candidate when it comes to dealing with healthcare, national security and Supreme Court appointments.
“When I look at all of those [issues], I come back to say that the best person based on the policies and dealing with things like Obamacare, still is Donald Trump,” she said.
Haley has been critical of the Republican nominee in the past, and has blasted Trump’s rhetoric that she labeled as dangerous.
“I will not stop until we fight a man that chooses not to disavow the KKK,” Haley said in Feb. when blasting Trump’s response to endorsements from white supremacists. “That is not a part of our party, that is not who we want as president.”
Haley also linked the Republican nominee to a 2015 shooting at a black church in Charleston, S.C. in June.
However, despite being critical of the nominee, the governor ended up endorsing Trump at the Republican National Convention in July.
