US Intel Warns of Potential Al Qaeda Attacks Monday: Report
The latest US intel reports are suggesting that there will be a possible terror attack on Monday.
The Hill reports:
Intelligence officials have told joint terrorism task forces about the possibility that al Qaeda is planning attacks in three states on Monday, sources told CBS.
The states with the potential to be targeted are believed to be New York, Texas and Virginia.
The credibility of the threat reportedly has not been confirmed. But U.S. intelligence told counterterrorism officials of the potential threat out of caution.
“The counterterrorism and homeland security communities remain vigilant and well-postured to defend against attacks here in the United States,” a senior FBI official told CBS News.
“The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety.”
Reuters reported that New York authorities were told about a potential threat from al Qaeda around Election Day.
The New York Police Department and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey were allegedly alerted of the possible threat by federal authorities.
“We are continuing with the high level of patrols at all of our facilities that we have had in place for some time now,” Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman told Reuters.
