Sanders to Deliver ‘Major Speech’ on Trump
Sen. Bernie Sanders delivered a major speech on Wednesday about Donald Trump.
The Hill reports:
Sanders is speaking at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., at 7 p.m. as part of a tour promoting his new book, “Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In.” His new political organization, Our Revolution, is live-streaming the event and sending it out to Sanders supporters online.
“Bernie Sanders is going to give a major speech on Wednesday night about the future of our country under the presidency of Donald Trump,” read the email to supporters.
“This is something you’ll want to watch.”
Sanders said in a statement the morning after Trump’s election that he would be willing to work with Trump to “improve the lives of working families” but gave the incoming president a warning.
“To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him,” Sanders said.
The Vermont senator has become one of the leading voices in the progressive movement since his own Democratic presidential bid.
He’s working to have a major voice in shaping the Democratic Party’s rebuilding after its election losses, choosing to endorse Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison in his bid to lead the Democratic National Committee.
