Trump Thanks Black Voters Who ‘Didn’t Come out to Vote for Hillary’

Donald Trump reflecting on the voting demographics that helped him win the election, and even thanked several minority communities for not voting for Hillary, or even voting at all.

The Hill reports:

President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday thanked black voters for not coming out to vote for Hillary Clinton on Election Day.

During a stop on his “thank you” tour in Hershey, Pa., Trump credited his strategy of asking black people “what the hell [they] have to lose” by supporting him.

“And you know what else?” he said. “They didn’t come out to vote for Hillary. They didn’t come out. So thank you to the African-American community.”

“Thank you to the Hispanic community,” he added.

At another rally last week, Trump similarly touted that it was good for him that black voters didn’t turn out at the polls.

“If they had any doubt, they didn’t vote, and that was almost as good, because a lot of people didn’t show up, because they felt good about me,” he said.

Clinton trounced Trump among African-American voters, 89 percent to 8 percent, according to exit polls. However, it was actually a slight decline for the Democrat candidate from 2012, when President Obama beat Mitt Romney among black voters, 93 percent to 6 percent.

Trump’s campaign message to black voters was centered on the idea that they should give him a chance because the Democratic Party had failed them.

He often remarked during rallies that African-Americans couldn’t so much as walk to the store in their communities without fear of being shot and frequently summed up his outreach with: “What the hell do you have to lose?”
