Trump Hunting Trip for Sale: Report
According to the latest reports, President-elect Donald Trump is selling positions in his hunting trip in the form of donations to his inauguration fund.
The Hill reports:
According to an invitation obtained by TMZ on Monday, the Trump family is hosting an outdoors-themed party called “Opening Day” after Trump takes office next month, an event that will give attendees the chance to go on hunting or fishing trips with Trump’s children Donald Jr. and Eric.
Donors who pay at least $500,000 will have the chance to go on a multi-day excursion with Trump’s sons, according to the invitation. Other amenities include autographed memorabilia from performers Alabama and Toby Keith and — if he attends, which TMZ reports is still in flux — a photo with Donald Trump.
The report says proceeds from the event will go to conservation charities. The dress code is billed as “camouflage and cufflinks,” but “jeans, boots and hats are welcome.”Trump’s children are noted outdoorsmen, and have influenced the president-elect’s thinking on conservation issues.
Donald Trump Jr. advocated that his father select Montana Rep. Ryan Zinke (R) to lead the Interior Department, the New York Times reported this weekend, a decision driven in part by his interest in maintaining public land ownership.
News of the inauguration event comes after the Trump team apparently closed an auction for a coffee date with Trump’s daughter Ivanka. Bidding on the coffee meeting topped $70,000 last week before bidding was shut down.
Proceeds were set to benefit the Eric Trump Foundation, though Eric Trump later admitted he was considering ending the auction amid concerns bidders might be paying for access to people close to the president-elect.
The Trump transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the outdoors event.
