Gingrich: Obama’s legacy will vanish within a year
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich believes President Barack Obama’s legacy will disappear within one year after he exits office.
The Hill reports:
In an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday, Gingrich criticized Obama for telling President-elect Donald Trump to push his policies through Congress, rather than by executive orders.
“What you’re watching is a man who realizes all of a sudden 90 percent of his legacy is going to disappear because he didn’t do the hard work of passing legislation,” Gingrich said.
“Starting the opening day when Trump starts to repeal all these executive orders, it’s going to be like one of those balloons that deflates and down to a core to 10 or 15 percent of what he originally did,” Gingrich continued. “The rest is all going to disappear within a year.”
Trump pledged to repeal all of Obama’s executive orders when he takes office.
“Trump’s a pretty good deal-maker, and I suspect that he will reach out to a lot of people,” Gingrich said.
Gingrich also criticized Democrats who are still reeling after Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton lost the Electoral College, but won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes.
“The so-called professional forgot the Electoral College mattered, and that’s what mattered,” Gingrich said.
