Sanders on Women’s March: Trump ‘Made a Big Mistake’
Bernie Sanders spoke at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C. yesterday, criticizing Donald Trump for trying to divide Americans.
The Hill reports:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Saturday hailed the women’s march in Washington, D.C., on Saturday while stating that President Trump “made a big mistake” by “trying to divide” Americans.
While tweeting a picture of a sizable crowd that came out in support of the cause, Sanders said that Trump’s attempt at divisiveness “actually brought us closer.”
“President Trump, you made a big mistake. By trying to divide us up by race, religion, gender and nationality you actually brought us closer,” the former Democratic presidential hopeful tweeted.
Earlier on Saturday, Sanders tweeted a message of solidarity with thousands of women and men who were marching on the streets of Washington, D.C.
“Congratulations to the women marching today. We must go forward to ensure full reproductive justice for all women,” he tweeted.
According to the initial estimates, the march in the U.S. capital was supposed to have approximately 200,000 people but organizers later said it grew to around 500,000.
