“Duck Dynasty” Family Now Selling Guns

Gun enthusiasts who happen to be fans of A&E’s popular reality series “Duck Dynasty” will now enjoy choices from a new set of guns branded by America’s favorite duck-hunting family.

Duck Commander — the company founded by “Duck” patriarch Phil Robertson and his family — along with Mossberg & Sons, Inc, has released a line of shotguns and semiautomatic rifles already on its way to major gun wholesalers throughout the nation.

Mossberg’s CEO Iver Mossberg praised the popularity and influence the reality show has brought to hunting. “The Robertson’s widespread appeal and ability to cross over into the mainstream has bridged millions to the traditions of hunting and sharing time in the field with family,” he said in a press release.

Ads released for the guns show them sporting a waterfowl camouflage design and, in the vein of the family’s conservative values, the words “Faith. Family. Ducks.” engraved onto the sides.

“You know what makes me happy, ladies and gentlemen?” Robertson asks in one of the ads. “To blow a mallard drake’s head smooth off.” In another ad, he proudly states, “Where there’s design, there’s a designer. We were designed to kill ducks.”

Duck Commander, a $400 million company, has been under fire as of late after A&E suspended Robertson from the show for making anti-gay remarks and suggesting that blacks during the Jim Crow South were “godly” and “happy.” A&E lifted the suspension less than two weeks later, although comments by Robertson suggesting that men marry women in their teenage years have continued to shroud the “Duck” family in controversy.
