‘Hero’ Nevada Rancher Cliven Bundy: ‘I’ve Often Wondered if Negroes Are Better Off as Slaves Picking Cotton’

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has become something of a celebrity among conservatives and on Saturday Bundy gave a speech littered with… well, ridiculously racist remarks that you would expect from a 67-year-old father of 14 who refuses to pay $1 million in taxes on his herd.

In his speech, Bundy began by saying “I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro.” Oh yeah, that’s just how it starts.

“In front of that (projects in Las Vegas),” Bundy said, “the door was usually open and the older people and the kids – and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch – they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.”

He continued, “And because they were basically on a government subsidy, so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned to pick cotton.”

Oh man.

“And I’ve often wondered,” he went on. “Are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

Mind you this guy ragging on government subsidies has refused to pay his mandatory grazing fees that every rancher in the country pays for 20 years. Talk about an unfair advantage over the ranchers of America who abide by the law. Heck, the law only requires he pay $1.35 per cow per month to graze on PUBLIC LAND yet this guy has been mooching for so long that he now owes a million bucks. That’s what it takes to become a conservative celeb?
