Teen Girl Needs Brain Surgery After Boyfriend Viciously Beat Her over ‘Snarky Texts’
A North Carolina teen has been arrested after beating his girlfriend so bad that she needs brain surgery – all over some “snarky texts” about his inability to untangle a fishing line.
According to reports, 18-year-old Michael Hutton allegedly attacked 17-year-old Hannah Connaway at his parents’ Wilmington home while they were out of town.
Connaway’s friend, Claudene Williams, said “he was angry because he couldn’t untangle fishing lines. He was blaming her for some things like having snarky remarks to things he was saying, and then it just escalated and kept on going.”
One of Connaway’s friends, possibly Williams, called 911 on Friday night, saying “she’s bleeding and on the ground. She can’t walk. It’s her boyfriend, and he’s threatening and screaming at us to get back in the car, so I just need someone to be there.”
Williams says Hutton beat her, choked her, and dragged her across the front yard. EMTs found the girl bleeding in front of the house.
Hutton has been arrested and after initially being charged with assault he has been charged with attempted murder.
Connaway is in critical condition at the hospital and requires brain surgery.
Her grandfather, Jerry Strickland, said “she seems a bit confused but is flashing us bright smiles. The left side of her body is still not moving like doctors would like, but it will get there hopefully.”
If convicted, Hutton could spend the rest of his life in prison. His defense attorney says that his history of seizures, combined with alcohol use, may have contributed to or trigged the assault.
